Peterson Daniel A. Peterson Dan Peterson is a Training Supervisor at the Building & Fire Code Academy. Mr. Peterson is both an experienced teacher and building inspector, holding a bachelor of science in elementary education from Mankato State University in Minnesota. Most recently he served as assistant director building, planning and zoning for the Village of Cary, prior to that he served as a code enforcement officer for the Village of Arlington Heights for several years as well. Mr. Peterson is certified as a Commercial Building Inspector, a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector and a One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector, having served in code enforcement for nine years. The former fifth-grade teacher has been an active proponent and advocate of education and certification. Currently president of the 1,400-member American Association of Code Enforcement, he also is a member of the Illinois Association of Code Enforcement and the International Code Council. He has participated in committees such as the ICC Joint Zoning Exam and Certification Committee and the ICC Construction Codes Interpretation Committee as well as the BOCAź International Zoning Committee and is a past-president of the Illinois Association of Code Enforcement, in which he held a number of board positions.
