Scholarship Program

Using the profits generated by EduCode 2004, Rick Wilburg, 1st Vice-President of the Southern Nevada Chapter helped establish with the Community College of Southern Nevada, a scholarship fund to benefit those pursuing careers in the building trades.  Three scholarships of $1,000 each are offered annually to students in the building trades with a preference given to those recipients that are chapter members.

Loaned Educators Program

Chapter members Theodore Droessler, Greg Blackburn, Lee Guyette and Al Ellis dedicate their private hours to the education of those in the construction trades at the Community College of Southern Nevada.

 Brems Memorial Fund

Our chapter recognized the sudden passing of the husband of our chapter secretary by contributing $1,500 to the Eric Brems memorial fund whose proceeds will be used for the continued education of Eric Brems’ three daughters.

 Monthly Education Mini-Seminars

The chapter holds a membership meeting with half of the meeting dedicated to mini-seminars of timely code topics and the discussion of local issues.  The monthly membership meetings allow chapter members to assist each other in the development and implementation of programs from one jurisdiction to the next.

Past discussion topics have included accessibility requirements, insulated concrete form systems and accreditation of special inspectors.  The educational value of the monthly membership meeting is acknowledged by the local jurisdictions since the monthly meeting is accepted as a contributing toward the annual personnel training requirements of each jurisdiction.

Chapter Newsletter

The chapter monthly meeting minutes and newsletter is distributed to 300 members and interested parties and promotes building code issues, training and construction activity.

Chapter Website

The chapter maintains two websites, one for EduCode and one for the chapter.
